VUCITRN -- Kosovo Police Service have confirmed that an explosion damaged the railway tracks near Vucitrn yesterday.

A KPS spokesman told Beta agency that no one was injured in the incident and that the regional investigative unit from Kosovska Mitrovica, along with the district public attorney, has inspected the scene of the explosion.

The police was unavailable for comment on the possible perpetrators of the act they dubbed “criminal”.

Serb sources in Kosovo said that the explosion occurred only a few minutes before a train carrying Serbs from Prilužje and Plementin villages was scheduled to pass that section of the railway.

Đuric: Ahtisaari should condemn violence

Meanwhile, government’s Media Office chief Srdan Đuric has called on UN Kosovo status envoy Martti Ahtisaari to “finally condemn Albanian separatists”.

“Ahtisaari’s persistent silence and lack of condemnation for Albanian terrorist attacks so far has been incomprehensible”, Đuric said in reaction to yesterday’s railway incident.

“Ahtisaari’s mandate is nearing its end and a new envoy will likely be appointed by mid-2007. However, he [Ahtisaari] has not once condemnded acts of Albanian terrorism, and it’s high time he did it for the first time“, Đuric concluded.
